NEW SAND WASHING PLANT
Alluvial quarry
Last autumn a stationary plant for aggregate crushing, screening and washing was started in the city of Algaba, Trinidad, province of Sancti Espíritu for a total production of 80 t/h. In the light of some important investments of several million euros by the Cuban government for the construction of new hotels and other facilities, Baioni has designed and supplied the new plant to a private investor who has made its local staff available to start the line. Baioni took care of the assembly, the supervision and the start-up of the whole plant capable of producing 80 t/h, as per the initial request.
The project was created to respond to an urgent need to dispose approx. 5 million m3 of large sized alluvial material that had been stored in huge heaps for years, coming from a previous wet processing equipment. The customer turned to Baioni for its widespread presence in the territory, not only with plants located on the island but also with its own operating headquarter and the related pre and post-sale assistance service guaranteed. The feed material is taken from these large heaps and, through two crushing stages, is finally washed and selected into four fractions: 0-5, 5-10, 10-19, 19-30.
In the crushing stage a primary is a jaw crusher mod. BP 90/60 and a reversible hammer mill mod. MIL 1000SP, already successfully used in other sites on the island, it is a mill with fixed hammers, entirely made of DUR, the right reliable piece of equipment for the kind of material to be processed. The material passes through an accurate washing process to remove all impurities, it has been introduced a fine sand washing and recovery station with a bucketwheel for sand recovery mod. RTC for the separation of the silt and the recovery of sand with characteristics of various granulometry and a group featuring a hydrocyclone mod. GRF.
Future business expectations
The customer is very satisfied with the investment made, he believed on the feasibility of the entire project developed by Baioni since the beginning. Today the plant is working in optimal conditions at maximum yield, even operating and maintenance costs are minimized because there are four operators employed to run the plant. The process is all automated. The inauguration of this plant represents an important step in the process of sale penetration of Baioni in Cuba, demonstrating the seriousness of the work carried out and the confidence shown to the made in Italy. "We are harvesting a lot of fruit from this country," says Ricardo Casas, Area Manager Baioni, "we are also concluding other negotiations for new infrastructure projects with the Cuban government and the country's military industry, we hope to continue working together to be a partner more and more at their side, loyal and collaborative".
